Lang Technik upgrades production with new Hermle machining centres 

The economic crisis does not yet seem to have been completely overcome. Turnover in the mechanical engineering sector, as in many other industries, is still lagging behind that of previous years. Nevertheless, the Swabian workholding technology and automation expert Lang Technik continues to invest in the expansion of its own production capacities with six new Hermle C 22 U machining centres.

"The current global situation has made incoming orders less predictable, but we have been noticing positive signals again for some time now," says Managing Director Philipp Lang. The investment, especially in this period, was a conscious decision, on the one hand, to be prepared for market changes and, on the other hand, to ensure the high-quality standard in the company's own production. "Especially now, resources must be used ideally, and capacities must be utilised in the best possible way," explains Lang.

He names two reasons why they chose machining centres from the manufacturer from Gosheim for the investment. "One decisive reason for this future investment is the very positive experience and the many years of good cooperation with Hermle, both in terms of installations in our own production and joint projects with customers," explains Lang. Lang sees the other reason in the slim design of the high-quality machines, which can be excellently integrated into the production environment. 

It is obvious that all six machining centres will be retrofitted with the company's own RoboTrex automation system. Especially the connection of the automations to Hermle machines has proven to be very reliable and very efficient in the company's own production. "The symbiosis of machine and RoboTrex has proven itself on a daily basis for more than 9 years and it is impossible to imagine our production without it. All of our machines, regardless of manufacturer type, have been retrofitted with automation in the meantime," Philipp Lang explains. The high flexibility of the automation systems allows for quick adaptation to a constantly changing market.  

The first three machining centres were delivered to the Holzmaden facility in mid-March and have since gone into operation. Three more machines will be integrated into the automated production at the end of May along with new RoboTrex systems.
